Our project
Sizewell C will provide decades of clean, reliable electricity for around 6 million homes. Together with wind and solar, it will help to build a greener energy system and protect households from high gas prices.
With the UK Government as the biggest shareholder, Sizewell C is a British nuclear project which will strengthen our energy security while providing thousands of great jobs across the country.
Final Investment Decision
On 22 July 2025, the government confirmed private investment in Sizewell C from EDF, Centrica, La Caisse, and Amber Infrastructure Limited – unlocking the biggest clean energy investment in a generation.
British-owned nuclear power
On 10 June 2025, the UK Government gave the green light for the project saying it marked a new ‘golden age’ of clean energy abundance. It’s the first majority British-owned nuclear power station in over three decades.
New Oxford Economics Report
A new report, released in December 2025 by Oxford Economics shows Sizewell C will be a major driver of growth in Suffolk, the East of England and across the UK.
With £4.4bn already invested in the East of England, construction is well underway — and the benefits will extend nationwide, with a third of economic gains and over two-fifths of jobs created outside the region.
